I am embarked upon a magical project to restore a railroad hotel built in 1853. We found a company that fabricated custom panels for us to match those on neighboring buildings. It was originally covered with shakes, but cost and longevity factors led us to decide upon metal.
The carpenter doing the work is a genius but hasn't any experience directly working with this type of metal panel.
I'm attaching a side shot of one of the 3 chimneys. Two are on either side of the ridge, a ways down. The single one on the older part of the house is centered on the ridge.
We want to do this right the first time. Because it's a custom panel, we want to be extra cautious. The panels are ~30" wide, and contain 3/4" ribs on 12" centers.
I've been told the centered chimney will be a cakewalk, but that the ones on the slope must be approached with infinite care.
I'll be grateful for any information you all might put me onto.

Best to lay the roof out so sheets oare centred on the chimneys as best possible. The sheets will need to be in two parts. Cut the lower sheet to fit the chimney, terminating abbout 12" above the chimney. If possiblb, bend the sides of the sheets up to act as flashing. Form a back pan from flat sheet to extend up the chimney 6" min and up the rooff, 12" min and past each side a min of 6". Cut and fold the upstand back along the side leaving it out an 1" at the bottom. Then install the upper sheetabout 6" short of the chimney and use a foam closure and butyl tape to seal it to the flashing.

Oops -- he meant "NRCA" which is National Roofing Contractors Association.
The National Crab Racing Association sounds very interesting though.

I am having the same difficulty with a newly installed metal roof. The installer is not familiar with proper flashing techniques. Can I get a copy of this manual as well? It would be most appreciated!

I am wanting to install metal roofing on my home, I want to know how to flash around my chimney, and vent pipes. Can you help me with some pictures or some detailed instructions.

First of all, such instructions should come from your manufacturer. If they do not have installation instructions, that would scare me greatly.
Some good instructions can be found on www.fabral.com and www.mtlsales.com for various types of projects. Or email me at [email protected] and I can send you a manual ... I will need your physical address though as it is too big to email.
