I am architect in VA and we have a single sloping, curved roof designed for a building we have designed. We are showing metal roof over nail-base insulation (for ventilation purposes) with insect screen at the eaves. The contractor has submitted and is suggesting that we don't need the nail-based insulation. We can just put the roofing right on top of standard rigid insulation.
Should we be concerned with this approach, or will it be an equal construction?
Thanks.

If this is the only ventilation, then, yes, it is a good idea. By working with the roofing manufacturer, you should be able to arrive at an appropriate vent and flashing method for the top of this roof section.
