I am building a barn with a gambrel roof, 7/12, then 12/ 7 slopes. Then there are 2 foot eves that change slope back to 7/12.
I like the look of the vertical metal roofs, I guess they are called standing seams. I notice on gambrel roofs with steel the upper slope has a small overhang about half way down the roof at the slope change. It breaks a smooth transition of the slopes and I don't like that look. Can a vertical steel roof be correctly installed without the overhang distraction? Do the eves with a slope change present a problem?

Generally, no, with most vertical seam roofs, this is too steep of a transition to try to accomplish it seamlessly. You will end up with points on the vertical seams for water intrusion.
Rather than just overhang the upper panel, though, I would suggest a custom-formed pitch change flashing. This will provide a cleaner and lower profile look and will also be more lasting. Your metal roofing manufacturer should be able to provide this sort of transition flashing or, at the very least, designs and metal for one so you can have it made locally.
