Which metal manufacturers are offering the NEW BASF Ultra-Cool Coatings?? I know Custom-Bilt Metals is. Is there anybody else? Everybody claims some form of cool coatings, but only the NEW BASF Ultra-Cool Coatings offer a real jump in higher reflectivity values for dark colors. For example the dark browns/grays are as low as 10% for TSR (Total Solar reflectance). I checked ot sites manufactures like ATAS and than value holds in the specifications for the color charts. But when you go to BASF Ultra-Cool Color sites they say they can get similar dark colors to 30% giving the EPA Energy Star Logo for these Dark Colors. You are alwasys talking about theses new reflective paints to your customers about compensating for dark colors. WHO ARE THE METAL MANFACTURERS THAT OFFER THEM?????

Thanks for raising awareness of these coatings.
There are companies other than BASF producing finishes with reflective pigment. BASF and Valspar do as well and all of them can get browns and grays in the 25 - 30% TSR range.
I know that Classic Metal Roofing Systems (Classic Products) is using these coatings. There may be others as well. I am not sure about Englert and MetalWorks. They may be. ATAS, I understand, will be using them soon.
Frankly, I think that inventory issues always come into play whenever anyone looks at switching paint systems. It is not nearly as easy nor as painless as it may seem it should be.
Keep in mind that there are additional ways to create a "cool" roof system. The more dimensional metal products have integral airspaces which help. Additionally, good ventilation either in the attic or directly beneath the roofing is very helpful as well.

Thanks for the info. However, classic roofs only supplies aluminun shingles. I was told that all things being equal aluminum is about 40% more expensive; do you agree with that???? I was therefore trying to find a shake/shingle or slate/shingle in galvanized steel with the reflective coating. I guess that as of now Custom Bilt Metals is the only one. Is that right?

Really, I am not sure what Custom-Bilt has in terms of a shake with reflective coating. Their Vail Titan steel shingle has it though.
In my experience, aluminum does not represent a 40% increase. However, I'd be curious who you heard that from. It may have something to do with their access to various products. For example, Custom-Bilt manufactures their steel shingle but distributes aluminum shakes. The manufacture vs distribute can make a major price difference.
Also, Classic does have a steel shake, called TimberCreek, which has a Kynar powder coat that is available by special order with reflective pigment. It is a pretty expensive product though because of the powder coat.
By the way, I am the president of Classic Products, just so there's no misunderstanding.
Thanks for your very perceptive questions!

It is was a installer here down in Mississipp that told me that about aluminum. To make a long story short he basically said that in a given manufacturer to upgrade to aluminum would cost a extra 40%. For example I am considering the Vail Titan steel shingle that you mentioned but would rather have the Shake that only comes in aluminum for Custom Bilt. He said to go the that would increase the cost of the job or SQUARE by approx 40%. He quoted me like $450 a square for the Vail Titan steel and approx $700 for the Aluminum Shake. What do you make of that? I have approx 4500 square feet of roof and was trying to keep the job around or under $20000, so I thought I would need to stay with steel no matter what manufacturer I went with. He said the moment I went to aluminum for any manufacture wit would pretty much turn it into a $30000 + job for sure.
