We had a metal roof installed horizontally on our summer cabin 5 years ago. The construction is "open beam". When I opened the cabin for summer I discovered piles of bits of styrofoam and wood droppings all along the floor under a beam. Help! We have used Raid fogging fumigators, but need to know if this has something to do with the roof installation. We live in the Pacific NW. Many thanks for your help!

I am sorry but there is not nearly enough information here for me to hazard a guess. If you're asking whether this is a regular occurrence with metal roofing, then the answer is "no". In fact, I have never heard of it before in my life.
However, is there a chance that improper roof installation has left openings where some critter has gotten in? Sure.
Are there possibilities that they have chewed, clawed, or broken there way in through something other than the roof? Absolutely.
If you have continued concerns with the roof, use this website to find a metal roofing expert in your area and have them come review things.

Thank you so much for addressing this problem! We did have a hole chewed through the outside wall in our loft area very near the beam in question. I am positive that squirrels in our area did this. We have had problems with squirrels before but it never entered my mind they could be responsible in this case. Thanks again!!!
