In my experience with the installation of metal sheet roofing I have yet to see a roof that is perfectly square. Therefore when you get to the last sheet of your material it's overlap onto the previous sheet is of course flush and tight but on the rake of your roof the top of the sheet might overhang 1" but the bottom hangs over
1 3/4".
Is there any simple way to square the roof up before applying the metal or to find how the roof is out of square and cheat some on your first sheet to split the difference? Thank you for any correspondence.

My suggestion ... make sure your eave and ridge are parallel. Check on this by measuring. If they are not make a chalk line at the eave that is parallel to the ridge.
Use a 3 - 4 - 5 triangle to create a vertical line for your first metal panel which is square to the eave on the end of the roof where you're starting. Do the same on the other end. Make your gable trim pieces large enough that they more than cover the pie-shaped area which exists on either end due to out of squareness.
