I am down to two contractors on my quest for a new metal tile roof.
One is using a Kynar 500 finish (Metal Sales) and the other is using a PVC Barrier coating from Stelco.
Does anyone have any information on the barrier coat? I know the Kynar is good, but what about the PVC?

Soory, I just found this one. The PVC is a Euopean paint system that migrated over here with some of the machinery. It is very flexible and is used by a Canadian manufacturer that sells a european tile sheet. It is excellant in chemical environments however it has poor UV characteristics. It is not used in the USA much and not south of the Mason-Dixon line.
Kynar 500 products are very flexible as well so they are used by US manufacturers especially in tile sheets. It comes with a longer term warranty from the paint supplier and typiclly they incorporate ceramic pigments so it resists chalk and fade better than any other paint system out there. Make sure both are using minimum G90 galvanized or AZ 50 Galvalume substrates.
Hope this helps.
