Here's my problem. A leak developed about a year ago and manifested itself near a wall mounted speaker which at the time I associated with a window leak. Since then the window was fixed and the leak around the speaker has gotten worse especially in the last few weeks. I'm attaching pictures of the area that is leaking. The installer evidently used calking which has deteriorated. Is this a normal installation or shoddy work? As far as I can tell there is no underlayment as the roof was laid on a frame. Also as seen from the overall picture of the area there is a confluence of drainage right on the calked area from the main roof. Shouldn't it have been diverted? Any help will be greatly appreciated since the leak is in my great room and expanding!

This roof will leak and continue to leak as it has a valley along a wall and is totally reliant on caulking and no doubt they used cheap material at that. The area needs to have the roof covering removed, then the siding cut back, a good quality ice and water shield installed running up the wall behing the existing siding and house wrap. Then a metal valley pan can be formed to fit the area from one oiece of metal and the roof sheets reinstalled.
