Provided you choose a manufacturer who is serious about the residential market, they will have detailed instructions for things like this. Exact methods vary from product to product.

Hi, I have an older block house built in about 1958. The roof pitch seems to be @ 2 to 2.5 and am seeing where you are recomending folks to be sure the vertical panels are the right ones for the job etc. In this case where the pitch is really not enough, what guides do you have and could send me to build up the battens such that it would create the proper pitch in so doing. Would heavier framing be required? I am familiar with the various drawings used by Decra systems in the application videos. Would you have any such info?

Hi,
I had the same idea for my up coming metal roof over my single wide project. I was concerning with the vertical ventilation with yours and mine idea. You don't think it would need lets say 2x4's running vertical on each existing roof run and then the horizontal 1x3's?
Thanks in advance for helping!

Hello I got your email from metalroof.com and was wondering if you could send me any info on re-roofing a doublewide with additions. It is a low pitch with almost flat additions, the main body has an aluminum with a pvc layer on top and one addition has tar paper and one has a metal roof that i will replace with the new one. Can i just cap this thing and Thanks for any info on this. Also what is the approx. cost for 1500 sq ft.
Thanks for your time. Michael Nutt

About three years ago I installed a standing seam metal on a 4/12 pitch home. We left the existing asphalt shingles and used 1 X 3's to secure the standing seam. We used rooftop guard underlayment under the batten strips. I can say I will never do that again. The metal roof condensation rotted out the batten strips. We had to tear off the entire roof. This time we installed the rooftop-guard over the baton strips to protect them for the condensation.
Just my personal experience.

that doesnt really change anything. It only changes where the moisture collects. If you dont change the insulation or the ventilation why do you think you fixed anything?

Doing so could certainly provide you with some much needed ventilation. You would want to feed the resulting cavity with intake aire at the soffits exhausting at the ridge.

I have an older (1966) single (12x60) Marlette up in Cheboygan Mi where there is plenty of snow and I am having trouble figureing whether or not to install metal or shingles over this home. The roof leaks and I would like the least expensive way to go. Currently it is a flat top with rolled roofing on it. I got a cost from a builder and he said it would be $4600 to do this roof. Seems like something less expensive would suffice? It is a summer home, but could end up a retirement home. Thank you so much for this site!

so I'm a carpenter who just bought a mobile in need of a new roof.It has an arch to it rather than a slope.I've been looking at some plans and understand the process ,but you said you vent the tin how do you do this? just leave the gable end open???????my plan was to cove the whole roof in ice and water membraine strap with 1x4 ever foot, run dip edge 360 and install tin on top,do you recomend sealing all the joints of the tin as well as the drip edge
any help would be great

Ventilation would normally refer to a combination of eave soffit vents as intake and ridge vent as exhaust.
In your case though the first step is finding a roofing product that is suitable for your roof. You will need to find something that will work on the curve and the roof pitch you have. Frankly, that is going to be tough.

I have a 1976 Medallion 16'X80' It has an arched roof. I want to put on a metal roof. Will the panels conform to the arch. I have been told that I need to basicly build a pole building around my trailer and install a truss system. I am ready to burn it down and start over. ANY ADVISE??
