We are looking for a new farm and one we are interested in has the house and barns painted red! I am not a red person but perfer blue. Can a metal roof be repainted and would it require a special type of paint and would the new painting last or flake off. Please let me know asap as we are to look at it tomorrow. Thank you!

Yes it can be repainted. As with any paint proper preparation and proper paint is critical to the longevity. Usually it is washed with a caustic type chemical to atch into the surface removing the chaulk, then it is primed and painted. There is a couple of companies that make specialty paint for this type of application with certain guarantees.
