Hello,
I am investigating methods and materials for replacement of an existing standing seam metal roof over a pool enclosure in the Chicago suburbs. The existing system consists of (from inside to outside) steel deck, vapor barrier, nail base insulation, and steel panels. Excessive positive pressure caused by the building's HVAC system has caused moisture migration outward, saturating the insulation and causing corrosion on the interior face of the metal panels.
What is the best assembly to replace this failed roof with? (The HVAC system causing the problem is being fixed as well). Will it be a great help to specify vented nail base insulation? What type of vapor retarder? Include an ice and water shield membrane?
Thanks!
