I have been reading here that it is appropriate to remove wall panels, flash, put on the roof, then replace the wall panels. My remodler just gave me a lot of reasons why he just put flashing on the outside of a painted wood wall over my side porch roof, and intends to do the same on three other sides. Seems like his reasons amount to damage the existing wall might experience in the process. The piece he just put up looks like it six inches by six inches, and sits on the ridges of the metal inclined with them, while the top is screwed into the painted siding above and caulked on top. Is this OK, not optimal, or a disaster waiting to happen? I can correct it now and insist the other sides go under panels. Appreciative, Big Al (Florida) PS The siding is galvalume made in Louisiana.

Bi Al,
Thjis is "not optimal" but not uncommon either. Sometimes, especially with wood siding, trying to remove it can be a real problem and lead to more problems.
Still, though, ideally, I'd prefer to see it flashed behind.
