Metal Roofing Alliance and Central States Manufacturing participate in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
A roof does more than just protect a home from the elements – it also protects the family in the home. Kim and Dennis Collins of Murfreesboro, Arkansas know the importance of protecting their family. They were faced with an extreme challenge when a family member died suddenly, leaving behind five children. Refusing to allow the children to be separated, the Collins took them all into their very small 1,200 sq. foot home, instantly transforming them from a family of three to a family of eight! Clearly, they were in desperate need of a new home.
Their dreams were fulfilled when the design team from ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" arrived earlier this year, shouting the hit television show's signature phrase, "Good morning, Collins family!" A huge team of contractors, volunteers and crew members followed the show’s tour bus onto the Collins’ property. In just one week, the team built a brand new home for the deserving family, providing them with plenty of room to grow. The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) and Central States Manufacturing are proud to be part of the team that made it all possible.
When MRA and Central States were asked to donate the metal roofing materials and the labor for the job, they both quickly agreed to help. Tom Black, Executive Director for the MRA, said “We knew the Collins family would benefit from having an energy-efficient, investment-grade metal roof on their new home, and we were happy to participate in this important project.” The Collins house has a beautiful green Central States’ Horizon-Loc™ concealed fastener roofing system.

The fastening slots allow the panel to easily expand and contract with temperature changes. The 1" high rib provides a sharp, well-defined look for residential and light commercial applications. Because it is rated UL 790 and UL 2218 for durability, insurance rates for this product may be lower. “
