Had a standing seam metal roof installed. The installers screwed the hip/ridge cap to the standing seam. I did not want any exposed screws. Ugh.
I feel they should have used Z flashing instead of the screws.
Why would they screw the caps to the standing seams? Is this acceptable? Is it because it is cheaper because it is faster?
I wanted a maintenance free roof, now, 15-20 years these screws will need to be replaced.
Thanks for any thoughts/opinions on this incorrect installation. Attached pictures, hoping they load properly, as you will see the screws that I don't want.

There are some ridge caps designed to be fastened this way. It could possibly be impacted by the time of ridge vent they used. These screws are not generally subject to the same thermal movement as screws in the panels. I would suggest talking to you contractor to see if they can offer another solution. Keep in mind that even ridge caps snapped over Z's will likely have a few exposed fasteners.
