I am switching to metal roofing mainly because I capture the rainwater from our roof and store it in a cistern. The asphault shingles supposedly shed toxic petrochemicals that are potentially harmful to bathe in, worse to drink of course.
Can I assume that my metal roof sheds absolutely no chemicals or toxic materials?
thanks,
Mitch

I'm like Todd, I wouldn't assume that. There is always bird poop on a roof, along with little tiny insects and even tinier spiders that I have observed living in the cracks and seams of trim and flashings.
